About Relish
Our mission
Our mission is to finally flip the diet industry right side up and make the world a lighter place.
Groundbreaking research has made the link between chronic stress and weight gain undeniable, and we simply couldn’t sit back and watch the same symptom-based treatments fail time and time again.
We believe that health and happiness are a birthright, and we’re committed to helping people everywhere to reclaim what’s rightfully theirs.
When we Lighten Up—emotionally and physically—we shed our baggage, let go of coping mechanisms, and are empowered to show up as our truest, most vibrant, most authentic selves.
The positive ripple effect of that is endless. And it’s just what we, our families, our communities, and our planet need to thrive collectively.

Meet our Co-founders
Liz Dickinson, Chairman
Liz Dickinson is no stranger to the struggles that come with trying to lose weight. With each pregnancy, she gained stubborn weight that overstayed its welcome well beyond the baby’s due date. No matter how hard she tried, the weight would always come back. In 2000, Liz thought she had finally cracked the code with a strict regime of counting calories. To support this, she created the Mio watch, which calculates a daily net calorie balance by tracking food intake and calorie burn. Liz ranked #15 on the World's Top 50 Game Changers in Wearable Technology by Wareable.com and Mio became world-famous; not as a diet product, but as the world’s first heart rate monitor without a clumsy chest strap.
Liz is a pioneering serial entrepreneur with a special passion for helping people live healthy, happy lives. While supporting others on their path to health and fitness over the past two decades with Mio, Liz recognized that no one program on the market provided all of the elements needed for someone to lose weight and keep it off. That is why she has turned her passion, expertise, and entrepreneurial grit to the creation of Relish, so she could provide the last weight loss program the world will ever need.
Shannon Shearn, incoming CEO
As a critically acclaimed circus acrobat and elite athlete, Shannon did what it took to maintain the weight to look the part, no matter how unhealthy the path to get there. This led to disordered eating – a common issue in the world of professional athletics – and a loud inner critic who constantly told her she was never thin enough, never small enough, and never quite good enough, either. When she became a mother, her struggle with “bouncing back” and weight gain contributed to her feelings of failure at this new chapter in life, which led to depression and an inability to be fully present for herself, her life, and her family. She needed to make a change to save her life and reclaim her happiness, so she embarked on the journey of redefining what it meant to live fully and win in the ways that matter most. Shannon rose to a place of sustainable health and self-love and began guiding her clients through the same journey with incredible and lasting results that didn’t feel like work, sacrifice, or suffering.
Shannon and Liz united on the mission to bring a powerful, proven, and lasting solution to the weight loss industry, and Relish Life was born. As Chief Lifestyle Intervention Officer, Shannon personally works with Relish members to provide the support and accountability they need to thrive.
Albert Ray MD, CMO
Losing weight and keeping it off effectively and enjoyably requires a medical expert and the support of groundbreaking research in the realm of mental and physical health. That’s where Albert Ray MD comes in. He’s one of the original team members of Kaiser Permanente’s Positive Choice Integrative Weight Loss Program and has helped thousands of people achieve their weight loss goals with a clinically proven, root-cause approach.
He was named California Family Physician of the Year in 2002 and voted “Top Doctor” in Family Medicine in San Diego.
Dr. Ray’s work is based on the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Study. Using the ACE Assessment, he helps bring to light the unresolved traumas and underlying stressors that cause emotional eating and an unhealthy relationship with food. With the understanding that weight gain is simply a symptom, he helps Relish members address the true cause of their weight gain so weight loss becomes inevitable.
Dr. Brian Alman, CBO
No one knows the importance of getting down to the root cause of weight loss better than world-renowned expert Dr. Alman. With a Ph.D. in Psychology and decades of experience under his belt, he uses meditation, guided imagery, hypnotherapy, and clinically proven mindfulness techniques to help members heal from the trauma and stress that leads to emotional eating and an unhealthy relationship with food.
Dr. Alman is powerfully endorsed by Deepak Chopra, Kaiser’s Positive Choice Weight Loss Clinic, and Dr. Phil. He frequently appears on major TV networks and online educational platforms and has helped people worldwide lose weight and keep it off by addressing the root cause of their struggle with weight. Dr. Alman and his team of professional therapists are a crucial ingredient of the secret sauce that makes our program work long-term. After all, sustainable and lasting weight loss starts with a healthy mind, so psychological guidance from a seasoned pro is paramount.
