Webinar: Medications for Weight Loss & The Link Between Trauma and Weight Gain

If you’re hesitant to take medications for weight loss, you aren’t alone. Older weight loss drugs have a bad rap—and for good reason.

In this webinar, our founders Liz Dickinson, Shannon Shearn, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Al Ray will explain the difference between the medications we prescribe at Relish and the “diet pills” of the past. They will also explain how Relish Life is the only program designed to treat trauma as a root cause of weight gain.

Dr. Ray will also open the floor to answer questions you may have about the medications in the Relish Life program and you will have the chance to discuss your unique circumstances with the webinar leaders (participation is entirely optional).

You’ll learn:

Relish is different.

We’ve created the only fully-integrated weight loss solution with a powerful team of medical, psychiatric/psychological, fitness, and lifestyle experts to address your weight gain from all angles so you get the results you want.

About your hosts

CEO + Co-founder Liz Dickinson is no stranger to the struggles that come with trying to lose weight. With each pregnancy, she gained stubborn weight that overstayed its welcome well beyond the baby’s due date. No matter how hard she tried, the weight would always come back. In 2000, Liz thought she had finally cracked the code with a strict regime of counting calories. To support this, she created the Mio watch, which calculates a daily net calorie balance by tracking food intake and calorie burn. Liz ranked #15 on the World’s Top 50 Game Changers in Wearable Technology by Wareable.com and Mio became world-famous; not as a diet product, but as the world’s first heart rate monitor without a clumsy chest strap.

COO + Co-founder Shannon Shearn is a critically acclaimed circus acrobat and elite athlete, Shannon did what it took to maintain the weight to look the part, no matter how unhealthy the path to get there. This led to disordered eating – a common issue in the world of professional athletics – and a loud inner critic who constantly told her she was never thin enough, never small enough, and never quite good enough, either. When she became a mother, her struggle with “bouncing back” and weight gain contributed to her feelings of failure at this new chapter in life, which led to depression and an inability to be fully present for herself, her life, and her family.

Our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Albert Ray is one of the original team members of Kaiser Permanente’s Positive Choice Integrative Weight Loss Program and has helped thousands of people achieve their weight loss goals with a clinically proven approach. He was named California Family Physician of the Year in 2002 and voted “Top Doctor” in Family Medicine in San Diego.

Dr. Ray’s work is based on the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Study. Using the ACE Assessment, he helps bring to light the unresolved traumas and underlying stressors that cause emotional eating and an unhealthy relationship with food. Understanding that weight gain is simply a symptom, he helps Relish members address the true cause of their weight gain, so weight loss becomes inevitable.

It’s a miracle. Yesterday I stopped eating halfway through my meal because I was satisfied. This may not sound like much, but it is huge! Never in my life have I not cleared my plate.”

This has been the easiest 12 pounds I’ve ever lost. The medication made a dramatic difference for me.

“I’ve significantly reduced my food intake overall without feeling ‘deprived,’ have already had fewer ‘binging’ days than usual, and, most interestingly, have ‘hit a wall’ during meals.
